Tie em' up!

Hey there, rangers & friends!

What a lovely day its been...the sun is out, as usual...the birds (crows) are singing, the meadows are looking as green as ever, the fresh air (carbon monoxide) soothes my soul...yup, its a lovely day, alright! How has your day been? Good? Exciting? Frustrating? Tiring? Well, if your day seems low and you've running low on fuel...here's a good way to recharge those batteries of yours. Firstly, play that favourite Christian CD of yours...next, make sure you're in a place where when you sing, everyone can see you and hear you. Thirdly, sing out with all your hearts and let your neighbours know what a lovely frog you are! Simple trick..but it works!

Just to recap what has happened over the weekend. For those of your in rangers last week, I' sure you all had a blast of a time learning how to tie stuff together using all sorts of fancy knots and lashing. Well, my advice is...to improve your ropecraft skills, you gotta practice. Here's some tips for you:

1) Use a square knot to tie your pet dog/cat/goat/cow onto your patrol standard. The lashing should work fine.

2) Use a sheer/round lashing to tie up one of your family member to a pillar in the house. The lashing should be tight and firm. One way to check if its tight...if your family member turns blue in colour, then you've got it right. The same goes to your pet.

3) Always start the lashing with a 'clove hitch'. Remeber the 2 loops thingie? Yea..that's the one.

4) Always end your lashing with a square knot. Dont know how it looks like? Well, its the one that goes 'right over left, left over right' thingie.

E-Rangers, please take note. This sunday we'll be having a patrol challenge as part of our best patrol competition. Crazee Kutu and Power Shieldtox, please do spend some time looking at how a Chippewa Kitchen actually looks like, and plan how you're going to construct it. Remember, girls will be using normal broomstick wood, while the guys....i've got someting special in store for you macho-looking fellas. We've got loads and loads of bakau wood waiting to be tied up! How sweet! Trust me, its going to be a challenge! Oh by the way, I still do feel that you guys/gals have really weird patrol names...

Have a look at the pic below. Here's how a simple Chippewa Kitchen looks like. Remember, the more creative and innovative you are, the more points you'll score for your patrol. Think!!! Year End Seafood Dinner awaits the best patrol...

Till then, God bless and see you all this sun! Oh, by the way...dont ask me who's that white guy in the pic. I have no idea. Looks a lot like Ivan Bailey though...:)

Well well well...seems like everything around here is pretty active! Even the chatbox has had its share of fun and laughter...not forgetting a lil' controversy...

Anyway, last Sunday was the first meeting of the year 2006 and what a fantastic day that was! Our newly appointed Senior Commander, Cmdr. Reuben was officially installed and charged. Cmdr. David Ying was officially recognized as the Discovery Boys outpost commander. Some of us might recognize him better as 'Ah Pek'...

Rangers were handed over to their new age groups, commanders of all age groups welcomed the arrival of new rangers into their age group with much anticipation, excitement and challenge. Almost 90 rangers and leaders were present last week to be a part of this fantastic day! What a way to start things off! Truly, great things are in store for us this year...

Well, this time around I wouldn't wanna bore you to death with long stories and rantings...enjoy the pics as it speaks more than a thousand words! God bless...

Christmas Day '05!

Good morning rangers!

Before I begin anything, allow me to say something here...for those of you going back to school today, have fun! Haha...for those of you starting college soon, stand firm on your principles and have a great time! For those of you who's working today (like me), haih....:(

Another year has passed, and a new one dawns. But before we take on the new year, let's recap a few incidences and events that happened at the closing of the year 2005. Let's begin with Christmas Day! For most of us, Christmas might have passed us by in a flash. Busy schedules, hectic year end, family commitments, church commitments...sometimes these things tend to make Christmas less meaningful for us as Christians, to the extend that we even forget the real meaning of Christmas. I really do hope that many of you out there actually took the time to reflect on God's love for us...by sending us His best, and that's His son, Jesus. Many times, thru past experiences, I sometimes forget the real reason we as Christians celebrate Christmas. Sure enough, I got caught up with the 'Christmas' that the world has to offer. This applies not only to Christmas, but also in our daily lives. Do take some time off to sit back ad reflect on what God has done for you. Give God the glory, count your blessings and the number of times He's been there for us, and let God take control of your life...Your life could never be in a more secure place than in the hands of the One who created you!

Below are some picture on Christmas Day 2005 in church after the service! All I got to say is that...the girls are as usual, stunning and classy. The guys...well...not too bad looking though! Enough of me writing...enjoy the pics!
