Full Speed Ahead....2008!
Good day, rangers!
Allow me to begin by apologizing for the delay in updating the RR blog. Its been a tough week for many...ever since Shaun left for NZ. No one to use as punching bag, no one to take us shopping, no one to take us go-karting, no one to do sound for us....:( Anyway, now that I've finally moved out from my state of depression, its about time to tell you the good stuff that's been happening! Amen to that!
Well...as we all know, RR is BACK IN ACTION! *clap*clap* Yes, kinda' late and lame for me to shout about it, but hey...better late than never! Just like the tortoise in the fairytale...:) Anyway, RR Sel#6 started off the year 2008 with a BANG! Yup, asalkan ada gaya, that's how we roll! Man...I'm telling ya, there was a sense of excitement in the air! I dont know about you, friends...but I have this tickling feeling in me that says 2008 is gonna be one awesome year! And I'm praying that you'll find this true in each of your lives...there's like a renewed sense of passion for the Lord, and a greater sense of excitement that seems to blanket over us! Let's keep on persevering and see what the Lord has in store for us, yea?
And so...view the pics below, and have a great time looking ahead for an amazing adventure in 2008! I'm excited as ever...how about you?

The leaders spending some time in prayer before the show began...

And so...after all that has been said and done, it was finally time to open up the gates and let the rangers in! And how amazing...the first ranger in is none other than our very own mascot...Lucas Chee! You know its going to be a great year ahead....

Hey hey...check this out! Chinese New Year's early this time around...our very own lion dance team. All the way from Australia, presenting you...Cmdr Vincent Chin! Amazing that he can still fit in his uniform!

The Adventure girls looking a bit lost...maybe its because of the Chinese New Year feeling in Jan...

Ah hah...presenting your our Y.A.B Dato Seri Eric Teh Seng Giap (UPSR, PMR, SPM, NTC, LTC, LSA) and the newest member of the RR family, Ryan!

Sr. Cmdr Reuben kicking things off and welcoming back the rangers! Gosh...we missed each and every one of them!!!

Some rangers will ALWAYS look cute and give you that 'Hug-Me-Please' look...as shown here by Bryan!

And so...with the dawn of a new year, its time for new age groups for some, new commanders to lead the group, and a whole new level of excitement! Here's Cmdr. Eric handing over some of this Ranger Kids that have graduated and will move on to the Discovery age group, received by Cmdr. Wei Chuan. Well done, boys and girls! Its always a sad moment as leaders, to finally say goodbye to some who have been under your care for many years...but nevertheless, to see them grow, and to watch them develop into young boys and girls that will continue to lift His name up high, its altogether amazing...

Here's the Discovery Boys commanders with their latest signings for 2008 during the Jan transfer window!

For many, moving up to another age group is an exciting moment. But for some, its never easy to say goodbye...I've seen many things in my time as a ranger, but I've never seen a moment like this for a long long time! This little girl really moved by heart that day...

I bet Cmdr. Wei Chuan, ZF, and Jayson will miss their club mascot, Lucas Chee! Finally leaving the nest and charting out his next adventure. Its finally time for the boy to be a young man...

Here's Cmdr. Ben and Cmdr. Jason, with their entire football team of Discovery boys that moved up to the Adventure group. They've got some pretty interesting characters in there...I can tell you that! Fun times ahead, for sure!

The newbies of Adventure girls 2008! Time for some in-house ragging after this...haha! Cmdr. Laura and Alison looking happy with their new bunch of fun-puffs!

The E-Rangers commanders waiting anxiously for their 'New Year Gifts'...

Taaa daaaa!! Wow...that's a pretty big bunch of Adventure Girls moving on to the Expedition group! Well done to them...they've done extremely well throughout the last year! With them around, there's never gonna be a dull moment! Farewell pic together with their Adventure commanders...

"Dont you think I'm cute? I know I am...the fact that you can't stop taking my pic confirm that!"

Discovery Boys 2008! These kids pack more punch that any WMD! Dont know what WMD stands for? Google it up...:) Chehhhwah!

Goodbye Adventure! Welcome Expedition...the new macho boys moving up to Expedition territory...

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting you...the new batch of Junior Commanders who have gone through the ranks and made it successfully to this stage! Well done, lads. These are certainly exciting times to be able to sere alongside them! Just look at Cheryl with her face thing....adui....

And so...after going through the handover of rangers, it was time to announce the new-line up for the commanders in 2008. When the names of the leaders have all been announced, everyone was excited with the new leaders in their age group...especially Simon (in the above pic). Once finding out who his commanders are, he fell to his knees, praising the Lord...well, that's not quite what he shouted. It was more like..."Ohhhh noooooooooooooooo!!!" Haha...

Now you know why....haha! Immediately, our in-house FRU squad swooped in to prevent a riot from breaking out...we do not tolerate street protests! :) No Hindraf, Dandruff or any sort of draft ok? Cheers...

Now that everything's in place and in order, it was time to finally roll...its amazing just thinking of how much we can do together in 2008! So many souls to reach out to...so many lives to impact...God, we ask that you'll enlarge our territory, enlarge our tents, and most of all...enlarge our hearts and hands...

Oh...just in case your memory fails you, that's Shaun Lim (the latest sheep boy)....flanked by Cmdr. Andrew Yew! We miss you, bro...fyi, futsal at 5pm! Be that Guy!

Peter, Leonard, Kok Foong, Amos and Zhi Kai...

"Hah...take out all your handphones and place them in the donation tray now! Dont make me do a full-body search!" Cmdr. Kenny lays down the house rules...

Our in-house MPK officers with their goodies after the spot-check...man, what's with kids these days and handphones?? Some even carry 3!! I dont understand...3 handphones, but 2 ears??? How do you do that????

The commanders planning (scheming) how to equally divide the patrols...we are fair. Infact, we are VERY fair!

Check out Cmdr. Sheila's gaya when she points with her finger...one hand pointing, while the other supporting the backbone! Haha...a big welcome to her too! Our latest signing for the ER coaching staff!

To the left...to the left (Girls)
To the right...to the right (Boys)
Shoooooo cuteeee!

"Who's da wo-man? I'm da wo-man! I'm big, I'm tough, I'll whoop you with my biceps...I'm your new Senior Guide for 2008! Be afraid....be very afraid! Semulaaaaaaaa" Su Vien rants! All the best, gal...we have faith in you!

Adventure Boys getting their parliament meeting in order. Exciting bunch of raw talent in its purest form!

Cmdr. Reuben handing out the guide bars to the new Patrol Guides and Asst. Patrol Guides for Expedition Rangers 2008. I'll try to post up some pics of the patrols as soon as I get 'em.

Our Power Ranger Task Force squad...Daniel Seliong and boyfriend, Nigel Lim.

Senior Citizen clubhouse...Cmdr. Vince and Cmdr. Wei Chuan. I'm telling you..these 2 fellas have crossed more bridges than you have walking on road. They've eaten more pork than you've eaten rice...

As your Senior Commander, personally...there's only one main goal for me this year that I would like to see happen, for each ranger and leader that's a part of this ministry. My hope and desire is that each one of you will discover and fulfill the purpose and destiny that God has placed in your lives. Also, that each of you will grow, develop and become all that you can be for the glory of His kingdom and the power of His name...boys and girls, men and women, walking tall in His footsteps, our master Ranger....Jesus Christ!
That is my prayer for 2008 for each one of you...
God bless and see ya in the next RR meeting on Feb 3rd!
The Legend of Apu...
Alright boys and girls...Apu Curry House has finally closed shop in Malaysia, packed his bags and moved over to New Zealand! Its been a sad day for all banana rice fans to see their favourite son and friend abandon the glorious food platter of Malaysia for a short stint with the millions of lambchops far far away...
The date is 16th Jan, 7.15pm - KLIA...
Slowly but surely, all of Shaun's adoring fans turned up at the airport to pay homage and to give him the send off he deserves. There's nothing really great about this guy in the news...nothing really spectacular about him in the newspapers...but the best part about him...is that he's Shaun Lim! (whatever that means...but sounds cool rite?) Yeap, everyone will remember the silent and quiet boy who's always hanging around the sound room faithfully week in and week out, doing stuff, running about here and there with cables and jacks, always got this mysterious look on his face, and not forgetting the disappearing-eyes act when he smiles...haha!
Over the past decade, farewells has been a pretty common thing among us friends...seeing the many who have gone overseas for studies and for greener pastures. Sad moments? Definitely...but its also a time to reflect on our friendships and how blessed we are to have had the opportunity to share many fantastic moments together in life...and so my friends, this post specially goes out to my ranger boy and my friend, Shaun Lim...who's been an encourager, an amazing blessing to us, a faithful servant, and most of all...a friend that sticks closer than a brother!
Catch all the drama that happened in the airport, friends. Read on! :)
.jpg)
Shaun making his final contribution to Maxis, setltling all of his hutangs, wishing all the babes farewell before finally going off...Best part is, even after going off, he decided to send us some emo sms which says, "In the aerotrain now...Thanks guys for everything. I'm gonna miss all of you when I'm there...take care k. God bless." Awwww...aint that sweet? I'm telling you...this dude has definitely discovered his emo-ness!
.jpg)
Shaun together with the Band of Brothers! Things ain't gonna be the same without you around dude...who are we gonna kutuk and taruh when we need a punching bag??? Ohhhhh...thank God that Kevin Wong is BACK!!! Haha...
.jpg)
Reubs, Shaunie and Kitty...the trio of hot huchi-mamas!
.jpg)
Did you know that Shaun is still so shy to talk to the ladies??? Man..he's like 18 years old this year...but still have to drag him to take a pic with the ladies! But I think that's all just acting from his side...as of late, he's been a very very noti boy...many projects and bridge-building going on...:)
.jpg)
Shaun together with Cheryl...btw, that's Cmdr. Laura in the backgound...just manages to sneak her head in the pic just in time! At this point, we had to console Cheryl and prevent her from crying...wouldn't want to start a chain reaction and flood the nation!
.jpg)
Shaun together with uncle Alex and aunty Marge and aunty Jenny...they've seen how this diapper-wearing kid has grown to be a MAN. I'm sure they're proud to see the man that he's grown to be...big and puffed. Steady laa...haha!
.jpg)
More family and friends pics...here's Shaun with his ah ma, aunty Kat and uncle Mark, together with his beaming parents!
.jpg)
We are family! Tessa, aunty Amy, Shaun (the big dude in front), and daddy...uncle Stewart! Tessa's first masterplan is to break down the walls in her room and convert both Shaun's room and her's into one big playland! Need help to break down the walls? Give us a call...:) When he comes back, make him sleep in the garden...after all, he's a seasoned missionary!
.jpg)
And so...when the time has almost come, we headed out of McDee...spent some time to pray for him as a group. Our prayer is that he'll be all the he was made to be over there in NZ, continue to be a blessing to those he comes across, do well in his studies...and most importantly, come back home in Nov 2008, still as a full-fledged Malaysian! A little sambal and banana rice will help remove whatever slang he's developed...:)
Here's Shaun saying his final farewells to all those who came to make sure he flies off! Enjoy the video, friends...always makes me sad when I see this video. How I wish everyone would be there to give me a farewell hug whenever I travel to Penang or go to work in Shah Alam...
And so...after hugging everyone and everything that can be hugged, it was time to finally take 'The Walk'. Man...the dreaded walk that everyone overseas student has to endure...in sad times like these, its always sad to see your good buddy leave. But he can walk tall with his head held high...rest assured that there will always be a place for Shaun Lim when he returns.
Man...this guy...even after he's gone past security, still he cant let us go...time to move forward bro. We'll be waiting for your return...and for you to come online the moment you touchdown! Haha...and that's exactly what he did the moment he arrived in Auckland! Online freek...:) Man..its like one big circus at the airport! All the friends and family cheering him on and embarassing him as he left...fun times people, for a good man!
And ohh..before I forget, allow me to share with you what happened over the weekend. So, after constant bugging, nagging and tormenting Shaun to have a farewell party for all his friends, he finally decided to take us out for seafood dinner. But even that, the plan was we had to pay for our own meals...and probably his too! :) Then again, you know us...secretly, without him knowing, a surprise farewell party was planned for him in his own home! Imagine this...his mum made him wash and clean up the entire house...for his own party! Haha...and all the while, he had no clue at all that this was coming...You should have seen his face when he thought what was supposed to be seafood dinner in Coconut Flower with the guys, turned out to be one big circus party in his own home! While he was on his way out to his 'imaginary seafood dinner', the rest of us gathered anxiously at his home, with the help of the parents, naturally...and once we got all the food and people in, it was finally time for surprise!!
You should have seen the look on his face when he opened his house door...the his horror, the entire house was filled with youths and ranger friends!! Hahaha...now that's what I call a farewell party! There were loads of food, drinks, an emo session specially for him, a special toast for him from his fellow Kiwi brother, and loads of photo-taking session. But the best part is...he had no idea at all about this party! Thanks everyone for your support and for keeping things quiet for once...:) And as for you Shaun...all I can say is..."Bodoh la, you...." Hahahahahhahaah!
Enjoy the pics, courtesy of Ms. Sheila Yong! Click on the link below and have a fun time spotting your pics...providing you were at the party in the first place...duhhhh!
Alright pals...time for me to hit the sacks. Got my silky elephant-design pyjamas all ready...thank God its Friday!! Bring out that disco ball and get the party started! More food for Malaysians....more air for Malaysians...Shaun's gone to NZ!
Take care bro...and we'll see you soon enough! First hand news from Irvin: "Flip! My brother has finished my chocolates..." Well done, dude. Dont stop there! Move on to the cookie jar...
And oh, we'll dedicate a couple of goals in memory of you, too...when we futsal EVERY sunday...:)
Our mascot, our brother, our friend...and punching bag. God bless, Shaunie!
The Great Kolo Mee Challenge 2007!
Wallaaaah! Selamat Awal Muharam to all my beloved friends and rangers out there...bet you're all busy hantu-ing at this time of the night, eh? Man...dont we just love Malaysia? The nation with the most number of public hols! Amen!!? Pity to my friend who'll be leaving to NZ soon...no more CNY hols, Thaipusam, Deepavali, Hari Raya hols, Sultan's bday...:) But hey, the good side is...you get to play with lots and lots of sheeps! Fun rite???
Anyway, here's the 2nd last post for the trip...let's try to make it a good one yea? This one's specially dedicated to my super-human friends, who put on quite a show for us back there in Sarawak...One thing's for sure...the owner of the kolo mee stall kena durian runtuh that day! Haha...a whopping 27 bowls of kolo mee sold to us in under 30 mins! Anyway, allow me to introduce to you the contestants...
On my left...weighing in at 70++ kilos ( I think), hails all the way from Horse Hill, from the royal Iban family of Kenawit...the undisputed EMO Champion of the Worlddddd....
DANIEL SELIONG!!!
.jpg)
You da man! With a smile like that...no battle is too hard for you, bro! Some more got supporters at the back! Steady la Shaun...always smile, cant see your eyes! (1-0...hehe)
And now, on my right...everyone's favourite life-size teddy bear, our very own Handyman, the next best thing to 7-Eleven, the IRREFUTABLE FOOD KING from Klang...Ladies and Gentlemen, please give it up to our very own...Chuah Chung Jin! Hip hip Hooray!!

With a face like that, the battle is already half won! Champion laaa...
And so, both the contestants were give about 3 days to prepare and train for the big day. And just like every big match showdown, there was the usual mind games, sledging and poking jokes at each other...Daniel always looked self-assured. But little did he know that CJ's personal record is downing 20 bowls!! Man..this dude is like a food storage tong!

Daniel's pre-match training session included attempting to smoke our props for the skit...and as usual, some other joker thought it was cool too...looks like Shaun, eh? :)
.jpg)
While some worked hard and puffed hard, guess what the bookie's choice was busy doin...Yea man! Fast asleep like a baby...:)
And so...enough of all these pre-match stuff...let's get down to business! Its showtime!!!

Daniel trying to get some last minute inspiration from a few of his ONLY supporters...mind you, I think he had only 2 supporters, out of a total of 16 spectators: Ali and Sheila! Anyway, the deal was the loser had to pay for the winner's bowls of noodles...and not forgetting his own, of course!
.jpg)
Daniel doing some pre-match ritual, inspired by his manager and sponsor, Ms. Sheila Yong! I'm sorry bro...but this time, my bet is firmly on CJ to whoop you bad! Hahaha...
.jpg)
Both guys got off to flying starts! Here we see Daniel deep into his 4th bowl...buy this time, both of them started to experience the puking sensation...I dont blame them. But hey, I like their spirit...and admire their tummies! Digestive system working deep into overtime!

Man...watching these 2 dudes gobble down bowl after bowl of noodles can really be a sore-eye at times...thank God for the heavenly Teh Si Peng Special to keep us motivated and hyped up!
And so...once the final whistle has gone, it was time to check on the amount of bowls finished. Ladies and gentlemen, we DO have a result! It was a clean victory for the winner...no scandals, doping charges, or foul play. All was done in the right spirit of the competition. And the results are:

Daniel Seliong: 5 bowls of Kolo Mee! Well done, bro...you exceeded my expectations!

And wallah!! Still our undefeated Champion of the Land...Mr. 7-Eleven Chuah Chung Jin! Check this out ppl...7 BOWLS OF KOLO MEE! I'm telling you..the Kolo Mee lady too was going bezerk...that must have been the BEST DAY of her LIFE! Once again, a big congrats to our winner...to everyone out there, feel free to challenge our dear CJ in a food fight whenever you're in the mood for it. He'll be waiting...
And as promised, have a fun tim watching the video below. It'll take you from the beginning of the battle, right up to the end...including all pre-match analysis and post-match remarks. Fantastic stuff! I was so motivated and emotionally encouraged after this battle...today, I realized how powerful the human body can be!
Alright pals...I hope that certainly put a smile on your faces. Just thought of sharing some of the crazee stuff that happened over there while in Sarawak. When we ministered, we ministered hard...and when we play, we played equally harder! Haha...thanks guys and girls for all the good times! Truly...one of the better trips for me! Hope to have you all on-board again this year end...woo hoo! Can't wait for the next trip, man...
Ok, dont sleep too late...Remember, early to bed, early to rise, keeps a ranger strong and wise! God bless your souls...
'He Came. He Died. We Believe. We Love'
(quoted from Shaun's MSN...bet he stole that line from somewhere...)
General Hospital...our style!
Hello there once again, my fellow Malaysians, Chinese, Kiwis and Aussie mates! Great to have ya back with us once again for this very special blog post, specially dedicated to my good ol' buddy, Chan Chiew Hoe. Hmm...for once I didn't do the 'name' thingie...

CHAN CHIEW HOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! There...I said it! :) Dont blame me for not trying. I really did try...
Anyway, ever since we got back from the longhouses, Chiew Hoe has been acting really strange and weird...he was complaining about an itch around his ears, thinking it was probably due to sunburn. And so, after careful inspection...we found something really freaky-looking sticking out of the surface of his ears, looking like an extension to his ears! Man...can you believe this? A blister on his ears!! And just look at the size of that blob...something needed to be done soon, before that blister eventually grew to become his 2nd head!
And so, being friends...the best thing that we, his friends, could do for him at that moment was to perform an emergency mini-surgery! Wooooohooo!! Man...I've been waiting all my life for the chance to cut-up some of my friends....and now, the time has come! With no qualified doctors in our team, it was down to us engineers to save the life of Chiew Hoe. Nevermind, we'll start with the small things for now. Slowly we'll move on to bigger body parts...:) Hope you're feeling all queesy and going 'ewww...' at the sight of the blister growth...
Go make yourself a nice cuppa' Maggi mee in my cup, sit back and relax and enjoy the 18SG movie! Lets see who pukes first..:)

From the first time we discovered the growth, it seems to have grown in size...no time to lose. "Cut! Poke! Squeeze!" The crowd shouted...
With not much medical facilities available, we had to make do with whatever we could get our hands on...in this case, a safety pin! Apart from holding our diapers in place, I knew it would come in handy someday! Disclaimer: All our medical instruments were sterilized and pre-heated as per our first-aid training...:)
And you know la...just like a pimple, once you poke it and give it a good, nice press...you start to get Sparkling Juice! A truly fun time splish-splashing! Hehe...
Time for some antiseptic cream...and the job is done! Not quite actually....we then proceeded with the OTHER ear! haha...not quite as big as the previous ear, but equally important to get it cleared.
Ahhh..once its all been said and done, its finally time for Chiew Hoe to live life as a normal human being once again...and start emo-ing. I think based on the above pic, its quite obvious WHY the blisters developed...the hair...the curtains for the ears...the lack of fresh air...the lack of oxygen! Object lesson: Always keep your ears exposed! :) And do take your bath frequently...
Enjoy the video, pals!
Outpatient Mini-Surgery (Part 1)
Outpatient Mini-Surgery (Part 2)
Many thanks to all my fellow medical staff, TV crew ad support team for the help rendered in getting Chiew Hoe's life back on the road. Its always good to have friends like us around...especially so in times of great need, like this. Tell me...where else would you be able to get 1st class medical treatment instantly, as well as FOC? Also...we'll throw in an additional surgery for FREE! I'm telling you...we're the BFF Club! BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!
We love you bro...anytime you need another cut-up, you come find us. And also, do take your bath too...and keep the curtains open once a while! Stay healthy...
Sarawak Adventure 2007 - Day 8 - Day 9 FINALLY!!!
Pheww...finally, down to the final 2 days!! Man..what an amazing adventure it's been so far, I TELL YOU...! :) This has probably been the longest blog post series I've ever done over the past 3 years in the RR blog, and probably de most fun of them all...well, let's carry on from where we left!
Finally, after a short walk from the boat jetty, we took a short walk over to Roban Baptist Church. Took our shower, cleaned ourselves, dumped bottles of perfume and eu ' de toilet all over our body...got a long journey ahead. A six-hour van ride back to Kuching. Lots of time to reflect, sleep, get candid shots of ourselves taken, and most importantly...just having a great time together on our mini road trip! At the start, everyone seemed pretty hyper...burning up whatever sugar that was left in our system. And as expected, everyone's batteries finally seemed to wear off and things began to slow down...:)
Stopped at our usual Restaurant Lachau (yup, you read it right...) for lunch. Had our dose of Chinese cuisine and loads of Teh Si Peng Special! And hey, heard from the boys that you can get that drink here in Klang over at the kopitiam in Centro...not sure how authentic it is though. After lunch at 4pm, we continued on all the way and finally arrived at Kuching at 8.30pm. What a posterior-end-killing trip, man...!!
Enjoy the pics and fairy tales...

Our in-house picman Dan, seen here with Connie...looking all bright and fit!

Sheila and Dan doin the goldfish thingie...:) Cute peanuts!

Ahh...ladies ladies ladies! Tryphena, Ali and Natasha looking as good as eva!

Another of our in-house picman...Jon Lee together with our very own little dynamite, Sis. Ruth!
More from the ladies...Agnes, Tryph, Sis. Dorothy and Cheeeee-ryl....

Once we reached Kuching, immediately we stopped at a nearby pasar malam...pretty interesting stuff, I must admit. And being guys...we tend to go to the weirdest places to visit first. Last year, we decided to go visit some Fish Expo..thanks to Cmdr Gid, who sort of influenced us to follow him. And this year, we guys decided to go beramai-ramai to the animal section of the pasar...lots of fishes, birds, pups, kittens, turtles, bunnies, hamsters, rats...etc etc. As though we've not seen enough wildlife the past week...:) The girls too had a fun time getting all those cute cute shiny stuff to give away as cheap christmas presents...:)

Awesome shot, eh? Here's the flying trapeze/chimpanzes in action...for the making of this shot, click on the tube below to view the video!
Fun stuff eh? Man...these girls just go crazy in front of cameras!! :)

Finally, after settling them and calming them down, we can finally take a nice shot of them (without jumping up and down...)

Cheryl and Alison, with her new pose...which I think she picked up from her smoking role! :)

Cheryl, Shaun and a packet of Cheesel...chessy ppl...
Ah hah! First thing in the morn, esp when your neighbour is still fast asleep, here's what you do...wake him/her up, and at the moment he/she opens their eyes, take a picture of them with flash! Fun stuff...ask Shaun!
Walking to a nearby shop for breakfast...and also to witness the Ultimate Kolo Mee Challenge!!
The fellowship of the rectangular table...with our YB, Dato Kevin Chin.

Jason, Reubs, Kingsley and Daniel...the Four Horsemen! Pic taken just before we left the Baptist Church for the Kuching Airport. Thanks for the awesome time, guys!

Everyone's favourite...Mr. Sanders! Our preferred choice for lunch! Actually...no other choices in the airport...haih.
Tzi Li, Cheryl and Connie looking all happy to be goin' home...
The boys trying hard to look wild and dangerous...yes, I know. Dont laugh...
Ok la...enough of wild and scary shots. Smiles are always better...Welcome to my bud and Eric!

"Did it hurt when you ladies fell from heaven??" :)
"Whateva, Shaun!" Cheryl squeeks. And Shaun gives her the "Grow Up" stare...:)
Yup, you..the one reading this blog! We want YOU to join us this year end for another amazing, life-changing adventure!
I'm goin home..to the place where I belong...where the love has always been enough for me...Thanks Chris for the memories...:)
This is Dan's emo look. When he gives you this look, it means...stay clear. I bite! And yes, thanks Daniel for the in-flight entertainment, together with the AirAsia crew. Really kept us awake and made the flight home a truly memorable one..cheers!

Air Asia...thanks to you, now everyone can REALLY fly!
Its good to be home, honey!! Check out our biceps, bay-behhh!
Alright alright...finally, the END. But hey, guess what? I've got 2 more special posts specially for all you guys and girls out there! Ok...since you're such nice people, I'll make it 3! The trip is officially over (in the blog, I mean...), and now, all thats left is 2 very very interesting events that occured during the trip, which I MUST share with all of you...stay posted over the next couple of days and you'll be in for a treat.
Just to give you a preview of what's coming up...we've got one post containing our very own medical team and a mini surgery that we carried out on one of our team members...trust me! There's nothing more fun than cutting up your own friend! Haha...get ready for that story! It comes with a full video too...how cool!
Also, there's the Great Sarawak Kolo Mee Challenge 2007 post! Man...this one is another killer! It really pushes the human body to the limit...not so much to the breaking point, but more towards the puking point! :) Bet you're gonna love this one too! So keep a lookout for it in the upcoming final posts for the Sarawak Mission Trip 2007 Adventure!
Personally, its been real fun going back in time, telling you and sharing with you our adventures and ministry over there in Sarawak. Missions is the heartbeat of God, and its definitely something close to our hearts...the hearts of all 50 of us who went to Sarawak and Thailand. To be a part of this life-changing experience, being a blessing to people thousands of miles away, living the simple life, having our own own 'out-of-the-comfort-zone' experience, and experiencing God's amazing love and power that saved us and called us out of darkness into His marvelous light!
Friends, the key word here is...GO! And I pray that every year, without fail, that you will make it a point to go for at least one short-term mission trip, because we all need some time away from the busy-ness and the worries of this life...and to experience a life of total trust and faith in God. My prayer is that ALL of us will develop a heart for missions, a heart for the lost...
Without fear, there cannot be courage...without faith, there cannot be victory!
Looking forward to the next chapter...Sabah Adventure 2008! *fingers crossed*
God bless, rangers...
Sarawak Adventure 2007 - Day 7 - Day 8!!!
Yes friends! We're now at Day 7 and Day 8 of our tour de' Sarawak, and man...what an adventure so far! We've been to 3 longhouses, travelled for hours, gotten ourselves a sun-tan for souveneir so far, and looking forward to our last longhouse in the itenary...Nanga Ibus longhouse! Let me tell you...the journey to this final longhouse was by far the most fun and adventurous so far! And so, after re-grouping at Roban Church to re-supply and get some rest, the team then headed out in batches to a nearby jetty where we would take an hour-long boatride to Nanga Ibus longhouse. And yes, knowing our team members, fun was definitely a part of the trip...bunch of drama mamas...:)
Carry on friends and enjoy the story! And have you heard that Shaun is now into reading?? I mean..what happened to FIFA, CM, PS2, futsal...but hey, reading??? I didn't know he could read...:)
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS MANY, MANY EMO SHOTS & POSES!
The first batch of people taking a short walk to the nearby jetty. Look at Shaun...minum Milo anda jadi sihat dan kuat. Steady la dude...and hey hey, they covered Cheryl's face! How cool is that??

Here's my buddy getting the emo club started...let's say it together: CHAN CHIEW HOEEEEEEOEOEOEOE!

Everyone loading up the stuff into the longboat. Ahh...finally, some river action! Been waiting for it all year long...Can you believe this? Even from so far away, Cheryl can sense that someone is taking her pic!

Ok..everyone's tucked in and ready to go! Cheryl looking for some sympathy with that pitiful pose of her...

Crossed an overhead bridge along the way...here we can see people fishing from on top of the bridge...

Ah hah! There's something we dont get too see everyday! They told us this river had crocs in it, but we had to see one for ourselves to believe it...and we did! Thank God for Jon's quick fingers. Managed to get this shot just in time before the croc disappeared into the deep...scary stuff wei! And so you can imagine that everyone was very well behaved on the boatride and never once put their hands into the water...:)

For some, the ride was hot and sleepy...but (un)fortunately for some, it was a wet and wild party! :)

I love this shot...imagine sitting on a longboat and cruising down Klang river...very peaceful and beautiful sight!

Ladies and Gentlemen...presenting you, Nanga Ibus longhouse!!!

Immediately when the first team got there, we headed straight into our tea party! Ahh...more tiger biscuits and tea. 10th round, anyone? :)

Sheila...looking tired (after eating and drinking), yet always seems up to something...:)

Here's Letchumy Li and Sis. Ruth...

Awww...me and my man, my buddy, Chan Chiew HoeoeoeoeoeoeoEOEOEOEOE! Extra long one for you, bro! Haha...

Shaun trying to do the emo pose...but a bit difficult to keep up a straight face with everyone pressuring him not to smile!

Here's Dan, Shaun and the cute lil' boy that would soon become everyone's favourite...Titus!

Here's Titus together with his grandfather, Datuk Bob...

Titus seems to have picked up a thing or two about emo poses...wat to do. Lots of good role models around...

Now its time for Daniel to show off the creative side in him...

Shaun tried to keep up with the rest for the race to be the emo-est guy in town, but fell asleep in the process...:)

And so, after a heavy tea session, it was time for the males to have their monkey bath in the river. Here's King Kong in action, being territorial and marking his spot with a roar!

Dan and Titus...like to kacangs in a groundnut.

My favourite time of the day...meals! Here's how a typical communal dinner setting looks like in a longhouse. The people in the center are nicknamed 'The Crook' by us, cauz he ensure that our plates never go empty with food!
After dinner, it was time to take more pics with Titus. Apparently, he's the cutest kid in the block. Cheryl's turn, this time.

Oh man...look at Cheryl. Here we see Shaun preparing his testimony, while Cheryl is up to her usual antics..:)

And so, our night service started at about 8.45pm that night. Here we see Alison leading the people in a time of praise and worship.

Here's a pic of some of the people that turned up for the night service...

Shaun sharing his testimony about how God has been faithful to his family all through the years...Good stuff, bro!

Cheryl given the opportunity to share her testimony twice during this year's trip to Sarawak...

CJ showing us the $$$ during the skit entitled 'Prodigal Son'...amazing stuff, guys!

Kevin (the father) leading and welcoming Shaun (the Prodigal son) home...

Eric Jedidiah Teh preaching the word of God that night...
While the service for the adults were goin on, we had a short time of Bible lessons with the kids...

Here's Cmdr. Alison sharing about sin and how God is the only one that can cleanse us of our sins...
Aww..aint that a cute sight? Titus closing his eyes and praying earnestly...
Here's Tzi Li and Wei San praying for an old lady that came up for prayer during the altar call time...
Here's Agnes praying for healing over this lady...

CCH too was busy in action praying for the needs of the people...
We thank God for the opportunity He's given to us to bless the people here in Nanga Ibus, to be able to pray for them as well as minister to them. Our service ended at about 11.15pm, and after a time of supper and fellowshipping with the people, everyone headed straight to bed. Its been another fantastic day. God has been good and faithful, once again (as always...). Time for some zzz...Our last day in the longhouse is about to begin soon...
~* Day 8 *~
Arise! Shine! The morning couldn't come sooner for some of us. Ahh...everyone was up and running by 7.30am. Normally during work days, my morning doesn't start till 8am! But hey, everyone had a good night's rest and was ready for the day...plan for the day: to travel back to Kuching! YEAY!! But before we did just that, there were some unsettled business to be taken care of...

Balloon time! Here's the ladies posing with their flower...looking all bright and lovely early in the morning! Morning glory...what's the story?

Titus looks all ready for war...Man, these balloons are violent stuff!
Here's practically all the kids that are in the longhouse. Surprisingly, not many kids around here...as compared to the other longhouses I've visited so far. But nevertheless, we still had so much fun with them and blessing them..

Here's CJ, Agnes, Triph, Natasha and Sis Ruth sharing a fun moment together...

And so, finally it was time for us to say our goodbyes and farewell to the people of Nanga Ibus. We've been blessed by their kind hospitality and generosity, and we pray that God will bless them back so much more in return.
Time for emo shots...
Our photographer...Jon Lee!

Seems like Sis. Ruth picked up the trade pretty fast! This is one of my favourite emo shots!

Another one of my favourite...looks so natural eh?

And hey...the best of them all goes to our very own resident photographer! CCH, Cheryl and Tzi Li...seems like you all gotta practice more!
The group taking the walk down to the river, towards the boats...
Waiting for the bus to arrive can be tiring...
With that pitiful look on her face, and that sappy eyes of hers...she reached out her hands into the water and said.........

"Errr....why is water so wet???"
Sis Ruth spending her time well in front of the camera...
Here's some of our ladies looking all Iban-like, posing for the cam...
Dan and Cheryl...notice how brown Cheryl's hair is?? Nice...
Ali and Sis Ruth...everyone's excited to be going back to Kuching. Its been a long week for everyone.
For a change, now its time for the VP boys to get their faces in the cam...(VP = vain pot)
Here's Kevin, together with Shaun and his new-found friend...
Shaun is truly every man's man...and also our very own Mother Nature...Here seen with McFly!

Ok, quiz time...Guess who's that dude, showing us his big behind? :)

All set, and ready to go! Ready or not...Roban, here we comeeeeee!!!

And so...finally we're on our way back. For some, the end couldn't come sooner, and for others...the adventure seemed a lil' too short! :) But hey, there's always next year, pals...

Another one of my favourite shots...that's my buddy in front! Noticed his 'Black or White' hands...

Woohooo! Daniel, Shaun and Reuben on our very own boat...apparently, the 3 of us had to hitch a ride from another boat due to the fact that our previous 2 boats were overloaded. Trust me...you dont wanna fall into this river, I'm telling you! :)

And so, we finally reached the jetty from where we started the day before. Uneventful ride back this time...no crocs in the river. Only on the boats...:)

After washing up and getting all our stuff packed, it was finally time to head back to Kuching, another 6 hour-van ride from Roban. Great time for us to reflect on God's blessings and how good He's been to us. We really missed our time at the longhouses...truly, they made us feel so welcomed and blessed in every way possible. As for me, I'm definitely heading back to this place next year!
Wah...Apu look's happy...must be the thought of banana rice and curry overflowing and flooding his plate...
And so, another day comes to a close...what happened next when we reached Kuching? I'll save that for the next post. Honestly...this post has been one tough one for me. I had to take 2 breaks in between to finally get to the end. It's been a long, tiring day for me. In fact, its been crazy ever since Christmas 2007. And hey, guess what? Another crazy year is in store for us! Wooo hoo!! I'll see ya all in RR tomorrow. Finally, WE'RE BACK IN ACTION! Its been such a while I kinda' like forgot how good you all look in your uniforms...
