It's been awhile.. but fret not! Selangor #6's blog will be up and running again even as we've kicked start the new year (: Hope all of you have been enjoying rangers so far! We can't wait to see all the beautiful standards and imaginative song and yells during our next opening (; (YES. Be prepared or be squared *evil laughs*)
Today we're bringing you the 5th of the Hear, Hear! series featuring all that the Expedition Rangers have to say. Here's one from our very own RangerYuan Qi on the "Value of Rangers to me". Enjoy!
Hi, my name is Ewe Yuan Qi, 18 this year,
and it’s my 10th year in Rangers. I enjoy every moment during Rangers,
and I look forward to every Rangers meeting and campouts, because it is fun and
awesome!
Rangers teach me new things, things that make me feel special. Going through JTC is tough but it
trained me up, and I got to use my fire skills, cooking skills, rope skills
during the camp. Before I joined the camp, I was the kind of person who liked to
take all the responsibility and do it on my own. I thought it will be better if I were to do it on my own. After joining JTC, I realized that group work and job distribution are
very important so all work can be done faster and better. I’ve learned that
there will always be someone who will help us and we will also have the chance to help the
others when time comes. Besides that, I got the chance to experience both
luxurious and tough campouts. I enjoyed Camporama, Powow and
outpost camp, especially during the campfire at night.
Rangers gives me a different social circle,
with different kinds of people. I speak Chinese all the time in school, but
during Rangers, I speak English with the commanders and other Rangers. Because
of that my English has improved! Apart from that, I get to know
more about the bible and Jesus through doing 'Sprit Challenge'. Sometimes it
teaches me how to solve dilemmas in our daily life. It’s like studying cases and getting to know the solutions to events that has yet to happened and that will help prepare me for when the time comes. Besides, I am able to gain experience from
commanders and other rangers when they share their testimony about their life in
society, school and with God. I like the games played during Rangers, it
is really interesting, and I’ll never get bored playing those games.
Rangers trains my ability to organize my
time. Although I have a busy lifestyle, but still, I can squeeze out some time
to exercise and also play music instruments. Doing the GMA gives me the
opportunity to explore new things and knowledge. I got to learn nature through
nature study, learn to interact with family members through family life merit, and
learn about the global issues through International merit. I’m able to create a
better lifestyle by exercising everyday while doing the entire Physical Fitness
requirement. For the bible study merit, I like Spirit Challenge exercises that
we do because Spirit Challenge helps us
to understand Jesus more and on how to apply it in our life.
I want to thank my parents who introduced me to join
Rangers 10 years ago, without them I will never have the chance to get to know
about Rangers. I also want to thank all the commanders who lead me and give me
chances to make mistakes so I get to learn more. Rangers has been a part of me and I’m glad to be a part of it.
Wow! God is good indeed. We're so glad that you're thoroughly enjoying yourself in Rangers while growing and learning at the same time Yuan Qi! There's so much potential in you. Don't ever let it go to waste. And we are definitely looking forward to see you attain the highest award a ranger can ever achieve, the GMA! Continue rocking it on for Jesus! (:
Cheers
