Pow-Wow Flashback...(Part 3)

Holaaa...time for me to finish up the pow-wow series! Just two more days to go, ppl...its been like weeks since the pow wow was over but I'm still missing the 'feeling'...We love you, England...We do....haih....
Anyway, Day 3 started off beautifully...for the rangers, that is! It seems like as the days kept passing by, the rangers seemed to gather more and more energy to run around, climb up and down the countless stairs, waking up at 4am...dont these creatures EVER sleep??? As for the commanders, you know...getting old...weary...bodies aching all over...sleep was probably the 'highlight' for most commanders! But nevertheless, when you gotta wake up, you just have to wake up! Or risk the wrath of your fellow cmdrs jumping and sandwiching you...

Breakfast...now what did we have for breakfast? You see? My memory is failing me...HELP!!! Nvm, all I know is we ate something...then proceeded straight to the parade ground. This morning, seems like everyone's energy level stepped up one gear as the camp was drawing close to an end. After a quick opening ceremony and getting through the formalities, it was time for each nation to churn out their best song and yells from their bottomless pit of their bellies! Everyone had a great time yelling and screaming and cheering for their teams...some even decided to take the road less travelled by hurling insults and taunting other nations! Naughty naughty...it was lovely seeing everyone from the young to the old enjoying themselves, being united as one, flying the flags of their nations...England brought out the beer mugs...way too much drinking... Italy cooked pasta all morning, Brazil samba-ed their way through, while Holland celebrated Chinese New Year early this time around!

Now, let's sing our national anthem, ya? "La Na Laaaaaa, Argh Grunt Snort, Hooooligan Fight, Grrrr Moooo, Laaaa Laaa Roarrrrr" (some anthem, eh? :D)

"When I say Holland, you say Done!" "Holland!" "Done!"

"Brazil!" "Get your head in the game!"

Cool leh, with our blue head gear! "Pasta, Spaghetti, kalau nak makan, datanglah Itali!"

We then headed over to the meeting hall for morning chapel. The hall was filled with rangers, looking all stylo-milo in their uniform, ready for a time of morning praise and worship. Cmdr Jason Tan from KL #1 led the praise and worship this time around. He started out with one really cool action song...the lyrics goes something like..."Don't let the Holy Ghost chase the chicken out you...we're gonna beat up the devil, make him black and blue....etc etc" You guys get the pic? Man....the actions were hillarious! Haha....what a start! You just knew it was going to be another awesome day!

Soon after that, it was time to hear da Man speak. This time around, no videos to start off the sermon. Instead, Cmdr Gid decided to get down straight into business by sharing the Word. He touched on why Jesus' death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice and spoke about the assurance of our Salvation. Many of us went to this camp with different views and pre-conceived ideas regarding our Salvation and the works that Christ did on the cross...but after hearing what boss said, everything just made sense! When an alter call was given, many rangers came forward to give their life to God, and to rededicate their lives to Him once again. It was simply awesome...God's presence was so strong in that place you could practically reach out and grab hold of God! That's what we gotta be, my friends...God-chasers!

The Annointed One (with the High Maintenance Hair ;) )

Once the morning service was over, it was time for some classic RR trademark event...BEST OF THE BEST! Basically, this is a showcase of the talents/gifts/weird-ness of the rangers in certain areas of their lives which they have mastered. Areas like the craziest walk, funniest way of laughing, best way to die after being shot, coolest fight scene, best way to drive a car (or rather how NOT to drive...), and some other challenges like who has the biggest nose, the loudest scream, and also the biggest eyeball! You just had to check out Tzi Li...she has eyes like...a Goldfish! If she opened her eyes any bigger, her eye balls could literally pop out from their sockets! And guys...i'm sure we remember how Andy did the Mr bean thingie by changing in the car, brushing his teeth...all these while DRIVING??? Cool stuff wei...

Jayson representing Italy in the Best Way To Die category :))

Brazilians Huei Lin and Grace in the Craziest Laughter (i think...haha)

Italians Amy and Phaik Joo in The Best Fighting Scene (where Amy gets to pull PJ's sarung down!!)

Cmdr. Zhi Fung and Ben Yee in Craziest Fight Scene for Brazil

Then of course, we have a slight commercial advertisement to keep the adoring fans satisfied. A mini tiger-caught was held in honour of a few jokers whor really spiced up the camp....firstly, there was this dude...nicknamed himself the 'Sarong King' for running around at night in the camp wearing nothing else but his sarong...during the tiger caught, he was also crowned 'Toilet Paper King'...i think you can imagine what happened to him...:) There was also a case where this bunch of guys from Sel #7 sapu a durian from the committee...decided to throw it up in the air, smashing it on the ground to open it up..cauz they didn't have a knife. Well, they got what they deserved also in the end! Haha...lots of weird stuff happened in the camp...did anyone of you ever noticed some undergarments hanging high up in the trees? Man...that's another story by itself...

The Big Boss(Cmdr. Reubs) and his Refs (Cmdr. Nicholas and Cmdr. Kwang Yewfrom Sel#1)

Presenting you, our very own Sarung Man!

Sarung Man's best friends showing him some loveee (by way of wrapping him in toilet roll!)

And now, he's better known as "Toilet Man!" :D

The durian dudes getting RED carded!

Lunch time came and once again, time for the family of 10 to eat together. The meals time in this camp was pretty interesting. Every table had their own food dishes...and everyone could only eat once they had 10 ppl all seated around the table! So it was like...some tables had only 9 ppl, and they practically grabbed anyone they saw walking around, looking for a place to sit...then only they can gasak the food. Pretty cool...then after eating have to wash up everything...plates, forks, spoons, dish bowls, table, table cloth, friend's face....etc etc.

"Aiyo Cmdr Gideon, you can't eat if you just stand there looking at the food!
You need 10 ppl to start!"

Tsk...tsk...Nigel and Joshua (why never ajak cmdr to makan together la, he so kesian wei, just staaaaring at the food only!) :D

Cmdrs. Lih Woon, Kyleen and Alison enjoying the food...sedappp :)

HIGHLIGHTS TIME!!! Woooo hooooooo....at exactly 1.30pm, it was time again for the rangers to experience some of the cool highlights of the camp! And as always, the rangers ran off like a wild herd of buffaloes..rushing against time to get their highlights completed. And as always, the rain decided to drop by...i'm guessing by now that there were probably some campers who hadn't taken their shower for quite some time...so its like...a natural shower for them! But anyway, the highlight of the day was the cool flying fox and FCF village!

Now that everyone knows what a flying fox is...just to let you know, before you can actually take the flight, you're actually required to cross a suspension bridge, which by itself was pretty scary at times! There's like 3 ropes which you'll have to step on, the bottom of the bridge lined with safety nets in case some of you should decide to take a shortcut out...it was loads of fun, I'm telling you! Some of our fellas almost cried, esp the guys...some were screaming cauz a lil' lizard was just hanging out in the center of the bridge...everyone got fearful when Kevin Wong took the walk...it was like..."Everyone stay back!! INCOMING!!!" Haha...fun fun fun! Then came the actual flying fox part. Once they got the rangers strapped up, and off they went! Silently? No way! Everyone who took the flight were screaming like ladies!! Even the boysss....yes, even our husky macho-looking guys! By the time they reached the end, most of them looked pale and drained...some were red in colour...rush of blood to their heads...hahaha...

The reaalllyy longgg suspension bridge! Those who are afraid of heights, err...
"Just close your eyes la!!" HAHA!

How the bridge looks like from the bottom up :) (not so scary right? see...got net!)

After you have crossed the bridge, you'll reach this hut...where you will put on your harness and helmets.

Evon and Loo Sin looking good with (and even without!) their helmets! ;)

Cmdr. Ameer...wooish...gaya nye! :D Apasal helmet tu senget sikit ah? :))

The view from the top of the hill! NO, that's not a mat to jump on...those are roof tops!

Screams that could be heard...
"Mummmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!"
"tell my mumdadgrandmagrandpafishdogcatcow that i loveee them!!!"

Now most of you have been asking me...what in the world is an FCF Village? Well, its basically something like a 'culture centre'. its the place where FCF members actually showcase their skills, which is usually a traditional Malay culture...like making kaya, chinese tea ceremony, making bubu and lanterns, preparing BKT soup, etc etc. Some new skills include the art of sleeping, lepaking, be a mat rempit, becoming a buaya darat..:) They even set up stalls where the rangers had the opportunity to make their own cool bolo tie! Check out the pics to see what I mean...All in all, everything went well....

Wan Perkasa taught them how to make cucur. First, you pour the oil...

Then you mould the flour into small balls (eh cheryl, why your baju wet wan la??)

Then you drop them into the oil...careful Loo Sin! :D

Next, you have to keep your eye on them, once they start to 'float', you can scoop them out...
(as shown by Chefs Cheryl and Evon)

The cucur!! Now, who wants a bite??

Also, the rangers were taught how to make their own boloties! Pretty Neat, eh?

The starry boloties that were left to dry...such beauties :)

Yes, yes Cheryl...nice Christmassy colored bolotie you have there! :D

While all the rangers were out there having loads of fun basking in the sun and soaking in the rain...even wondered what your commanders were doin??? Haha....Zzzzz......Zzzzzz......lovely!
Not only was everyone wet and soaking after playing in the rain, most of these jokers even decided to go swimming! These fellas ar...they're like water buffaloes! They just have to play in water...the weather was perfect...chilly, yet with a lil' sunshine. Gives you that tingle to the bone....

The hugeeee swimming pool

Wait wait...let me check... OK! no need to censor anything...hehehe ;)

Yeah man, it even has a SLIDE and WATERFALL! tell me, can it be any better than this???

After a well-earned dinner, everyone was hyped and pumped...all ready for another awesome night of praise and worship, and ready to receive God's word! As the rangers gathered in the hall, God's spirit just poured in like waves hitting a shore...man...I could literally feel God all over me!! I dont really know how to explain this is words, friends...but when God is in the house, He'll let you know about it. You could 'feel' it...Once again, the rangers came united together with one voice, declaring His greatness and majesty, as they offered up praises and worship unto God. It was electrifying! We jumped and lifted our hands and voices in praise...simply because we WANT to give God all the glory! He truly deserves our praise...

When Cmdr Gideon took over the mic, he started off with one of his usual trademarks...by showing us a video. This time, the video was about Zidane and his infamous headbutt during the recent World Cup finals. It was hillarous and outrageous cauz there were a few videos showing what really happened at that time. Hahah...very very funny...After the message was spoken, once again the rangers came to the alter, weeping before God, just crying out for more and more of God...if only you could see what was happening, you'd know and believe that God still does transform lives! And over at the Discovery rangers service, we've had wonderful reports that more than 30 kids gave their lives to God. AMEN! For the past 2 nights, God's presence was so powerfully present...lives were changed, souls re-dedicated to Him, people were filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit...all glory to God, friend! Who's to say what we cant do with God on our side? Follow God...and together we'll change the world, one child at a time...

Once the service was over...everyone had the night of their lives...playing games, especially those weird camp games which most of the time, normal ppl would never understand! Haha...but then again, its a rangers thingie...so for those of you who know the game, please dont share the answers to every one you see...instead, try confusing them once a while...get them thinking...give them sleepless nights....and then have mercy on them in the end! :) Even the Discovery rangers had a blast of a time playing some singing aka karaoke session game. Some fellas even decided to take it to the dance floor! Whoaaa...Supper, as always, is de highlight of the night! This time it was like Hari Raya in August...mess cans were filled, fires were started, it was like a communal cooking thingie...sharing food, sharing fire, sharing seats, sharing matchbox, sharing stories and jokes....really really fun. Oh btw, before I forget...did I mention that we celebrated our beloved Sunny Lee's birthday? Not only once, but I think about 10 times at least??? Hahaa...if only you knew what we did to him...I guess by now he'll probably never want to invite us for his bday ever again! Hahaha...if you wanna know what happened, ask the rest!

Some of the participants from Sel#6 chilling out together in the hall after service
(oh ya, Sunny's the one forming a 'Y' on the stage! you'll be seeing more of him soon!)

Music Team for the night :)

Ok, there are 2 scenerios here, the ppl in front are taking a picture, whereas the ones at the back were engrossed in a different kind of activity! Wanna know what they were up to??

This!! HAHAHA! Now you knw what it means when we say it was Sunny's birthday!

After a good hearty supper, it's time to hit the sack!
Err...guyss...hit the SACK! not EACH OTHER!! :S

Friends, after yet another truly fulfilling day....all is well with my soul. 3am, and it was finally time for me to call it quits. Just before I closed my eyes to sleep, I smiled. I thanked God for allowing each and everyone of us to be here at this camp. Truly, we've all been blessed tremendously! I thank you, Father...for You are truly awesome and You know what's best for Your children...

Goodnight world...

'Seems like everyone has increased their level of smartness and brain density...another amazing day without any lame/stupid quotes...WOW!'

So...wanna know why Phaik Joo and Amy are looking shell shocked?
Stay tuned for the Day 4 to find out! :D
